David Slack is a fantastic man. He once asked me to write about my musical taste for his Substack/Subslack. This was originally published on 19 June 2021.

Here is an excerpt:
In my mid-teens I discovered the local student radio station: The Most FM. What a revelation. It introduced me to both hip hop and punk. NOFX and Pennywise mixed with Snoop and Tupac. Through The Most I also discovered NZ music like HLAH and Darcy Clay, sadly a year or so after he died.
I downloaded Napster onto the family PC. I remember sitting there, glued to the progress bar, one afternoon when I should have been around at my grandparents house, instead watching ‘Stan’ download byte by byte on the ol’ dial up.
