Every so often, I write articles for David Farrier’s Webworm. My latest is about the intersection of tech and psychology and how social media platforms are directly driving us to believe conspiracy theories. I know this because — as you will see — I have been part of that ecosystem, running a Reptilian-Shapeshifter focussed Facebook page for the past 15 years. This was originally posted on 31 May 2024.

The atomisation of our society is not a new idea, and I’ve written about how hypercapitalism is pretty bleak before. But what I want to hone in on is one of the many ways tech — the feted God that was supposed to make our lives easier, better, and give us more free time to do cool stuff — and the techbros — who are making billions and billions and billions of dollars out of it — are trying to rewire our brains through the products they put out and we are essentially forced to use.
The biggest example of The Internet undermining positive human interaction is email in general and Microsoft Outlook in particular.
To put it bluntly: Outlook is a subversive technology that slowly erodes people’s trust and respect for each other through micro conflicts facilitated by false positives.
